Are you sad, bored, or depressed because nothing remarkable is happening in your life?
Feeling down because someone close to your heart is no more along?
Or simply feeling hurt due to something which you never expected to happen?
Well, don’t worry; you aren’t alone. Each one of us experiences a low-phase at some point of time in life. And then the blame game starts. Sometimes we place the blame on our circumstances, at other moments on our emotional swings.
But the hard truth is that there is only one person accountable for your bouts of grief, boredom, or depression.
Yes, you are going in the right direction- it is none other than YOU!
Don’t be shocked!
It’s true! And the worst thing starts when you want to be left alone. Lost in your own misery you just keep on making yourself feel low, lower, and then lowest.
Not to forget, there are some other factors which add to your problem, making it severe. Some of them are;
- Depressing music
- Melodramatic television
- Unhealthy eating habits
- Minimal exercise
Do you know all these are directly linked to a person’s mood? Yes, listening to that ‘sad songs’ playlist could make you anxious and neurotic. So, if you have been doing this for a long time, it is a clear warning- STOP RIGHT NOW!
Even if the circumstances are not in your favor, you cannot stop loving yourself, isn’t? As I stated earlier, it is you who are responsible for your present state of mind. So, the secret is that- You can be happy again. Sounds great?
I know it is pretty easy to say- be happy or don’t let down. But when turning to practical life, it is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, I would still insist that you can bring the change. It might take some time, but finally, you will succeed in the mission to be happy and peaceful.
Now you might be thinking- how?
So, without wasting any time, I am listing down some tried stuff, which would surely help you lifting your mood and self.
Do something spontaneous and exciting
You might not be in a mood to do anything when you’re down in the dumps. But one of the best ways to free your mind is getting into something crazy.
To come out of those pesky negative thoughts, I prefer riding to a nearby hill station with a friend or two, and dwell the inner peace. You can do anything, might be visit your favorite store or giving yourself a treat yourself help.
Be with people you love
Even if you are feeling low due to someone you love, there are many other who love you more, isn’t it? It can be family or friends; staying with them would be the best medicine when you have the blues. Can’t see them in person? No problem, pick up your phone and call them.
I just call up my Brother. His idiotic talks and giggle help me get some stuff off my chest.
Look for a reason to laugh
Don’t take life a too seriously! You need to know that sadness is temporary. So, try to make a laugh; choose your favorite funny show, movie, or just a video online.I switch to my all-time favorite, TOM and JERRY series. You must try it!
Stop cursing yourself
Never ever put yourself into a lot pressure. It is good to aspire ‘greatness’, but seriously, sometimes you need to sit back, reflect, and recognize the ‘good’ things.
For me, I start focusing on what I have, leaving aside what I don’t. Happiness is a choice- take it or leave it!
Go, Get going
This is my personal, favorite thing to pick myself. If you’re having some tough days, and you feel nothing can be changed, just leave it for the moment. Staying in one place and feeling sorry for something you didn’t do, won’t help for sure. Run away, might be you can do some exercise or take a long walk. I prefer going for a solo bike ride.
Eat something you love (and healthy)
Generally, most people eat junk food when they feel low. And this make them feel lower.
Do the opposite this time and your body will thank you! Switch to vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. While it will fill your body with proper nutrients, it would be easy to digest. So, that’s a win-win.
Spend time with babies or animals
Without a doubt, this one works and heals. The time you spend with kids and animals is therapeutic. Just be with them, and watch your stress melt away.
These days I go for my niece, Navya!
So, these were some tips which I have been following in my low moments.
I believe they are simple and executable, aren’t they?
Lastly, I will not boast about their effectiveness, and would like to leave it to you to experiment and experience.
Keep Smiling and Be Happy!
